On Thai lemon basil......

Thai lemon basil is a hybrid plant between basil and african basil. It is harvested primarily in northeastern Africa and southern Asia for its strong fragrant lemon scent and its unique flavor qualities. Aesthetically Its similar to regular basil, but the leaves tend to be narrower and more defined . Its flowers bloom around late summer and early fall. Its a rare commodity depending on where you live. This is due to its minute shelf life. It will hold 4 days in the refrigerator if you take good care of it. I was lucky enough to get my hands on some earlier today. One of our chefs picked some up at the chamber street farmers market before coming to work. I will use it on a new menu item that will feature some herbs we are growing at our roof top garden. Here are some pictures of the Thai lemon basil, it was super fresh.....beautiful product.
